Four Oval Wallpaper Boxes

Wallpaper, cardboard, wood and newspaper. These colorful box would enhance any collection.

All four have bright wallpaper coverings that have survived with some normal wear but display excellent color. Circa 1840.  Likely PA and NE.   Some wear on edges and bottoms as expected with age.

Large Round Early 19th Century Box

Prepossessing and very large round box having traces of sage paint.  Circa 1820, box construction sports square-head nails with strong oxidation and very thick box walls and wrap on the lid.  Box is very sturdy without splits or cracks.  Appears to have been an early painted box which was later "cleaned" to reveal original wood, but leaving traces of old sage paint.

Polychrome 19th Century Flacon

Handsome turned wooden flacon painted in three colors (red, black and ivory, applied to resemble marble veining).  Well-proportioned, with lovely turning.  Curvaceous form topped with a shapely finial stopper.  Excellent condition.

Indigo and White Doll Quilt

Well-scaled pinwheel design doll quilt from Lancaster County, PA. Indigo calico pinwheels and border against white background. Quilted with diagonal lines. The fabrics are strong and intact, but there is some scattered faint brown staining along the border and going into two adjoining blocks. Otherwise in very fine unwashed condition. Professionally mounted on a stretcher measuring 17 ½” X 15” wired to be hung vertically. Circa 1880. Provenance Stella Rubin.
