19th Century Chalkware Parrots

These two parrots, - figures frequently featured in Pennsylvania Frakturs, are each perched on balls on a stand. Original green, yellow, red and sienna brown paint. Both are hollow cast and in very good condition with minor paint wear as expected from mid-19th century age and usage. 8 3/4 “ tall.

Splendid tin toleware tea caddy painted with black asphaltum, then brightly adorned with floral motif.   Likely PA or NY.  Fine condition.   6 7/8" tall

White Decorated Tin Toleware Box

4" long  X  2 1/2"  wide  X  2 1/4" deep toleware box, white base color (unusual in decorated tin),  Exuberantly decorated in floral motif on five sides.  Attributed to Mercy North of Fly Creek, New Jersey.  Provenance: Lewis Scranton.

Watercolor On Ivory Portrait Miniature

Delicate image of young woman (watercolor on ivory). The bust-length oval portrait depicts the young woman in 3/4 pose facing left.  The painting is housed in an oval gilt pendant frame with chased bezel.  The painting itself is excellent and very sensitively done by an artist of some merit.  The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or restoration.   Back is glazed and displays braided hair work and gold initials behind glass. Pennsylvania painted, rare, circa 1825 chalk ware cat. Exceptional presence, having multiple colors and fancy decoration. Original paint, no repairs. In mint condition. Size: 6 3/4″ tall.

Period Blue Painted Cant Back Cupboard

Exceptional one-piece cant-back and step-back, open top country cupboard. Constructed of old, 19th century pine and poplar throughout, including beaded planks used for back. Blue paint over original red. Faithful construction, including beading around top and on single door in bottom section, along with its decorative curved cutout feet confirm its Pennsylvania origin. Dimensions: 81” x 38” x 18” Period blue paint compounded from old dry pigment and hand applied by master furniture designer and maker, Philip Andrews, Gillett, PA 81″H x 38″W
